BLACK HISTORY MONTH: PUMA x JUNE AMBROSE CHAMPIONS UP AND COMING DESIGNER

Supporting rising stars in the industry, PUMA has launched a competition for creatives to be in with the chance to win a piece of design equipment, £1000, and one-to-one mentoring session with renowned costume ​designer​,​ and creative director for women’s basketball, June Ambrose

Shining a spotlight on the PUMA Suede, the brand is inviting up and coming designers to create outfits to pair with the iconic Puma suedes, for the chance to win an opportunity for a one-to-one mentoring session with r​enowned costume ​designer​,​ and creative director for women’s basketball, June Ambrose.  The winner will also receive design equipment and a cash fund to support their design journey. Creatives will be briefed to submit three to five full looks (one look consists of three garments) as well as a 250-word written submission on what has inspired their designs.

Three designers will be shortlisted, from the submissions, by a panel of experts and awarded £1,000 each to bring their creations to life. From the shortlist, one overall winner will then be selected. The winner will receive an additional £1,000, a piece of design equipment plus invaluable time and advice from fashion expert, June Ambrose. 

PUMA Suede hit the scene in 1968 and has been changing the streetwear game ever since. From the courts to the curbs, from ‘80s b-boys to today’s hustlers, the shoe has been worn by the icons of every generation – and it’s stayed classic through it all. It’s a shoe at the heart of Black culture and stories are still told today of its prominence within the community, making it the perfect shoe to celebrate Black History Month.
