INTERVIEW:
TAI VERDES

INTERVIEW BY: Mathew Siebuhr

The candid nature of Tai Verde’s energy has become the trademark within his music. Each track’s transparency has only leveraged the interest amongst listeners as to who he is, behind the feel-good anthems.

His debut album ‘TV’ recently transitioned from a once afar dream to reality. The majority of listeners were first introduced to Tai’s incredible gifts via his audition on ‘America’s Got Talent’. Although the audition didn’t result in the immediate outcome of global stardom, it was certainly a pivotal moment amongst his journey so far.

Tai has curated his debut album as a vessel to communicate the ups and downs of the journey from then till now. Combining themes of relationship turmoil and the growing pains of adulthood, Tai illustrates the importance of insisting on your own happiness through it all.

As a viewer, one of the foremost things about you is your candid self expression! How have you maintained your youthful spirit?

Life’s too long to be doing shit that you don’t like. So I’ve just avoided all the dumb shit unhappy people have been telling me to do.

You’ve mentioned on Instagram that you were still working for Verizon last year, so describe the last 18 months for yourself.

I was helping older people who don’t know how to use phones.  That was real tough.  You don’t know how many people can’t change the brightness on their phone till you work at a phone store.  After I put out ‘Stuck In The Middle', things happened so fast.  I quit my job, one single turned into another, and then now the albums out. Life is a wild mofo.

What type of effect do you think tour life will have on you as a person and artist?

I like airports. I like traveling.  I think I’m just going to rack up flight points and go visit people who like my music. Maybe sing some songs.  Who knows.

How excited are you about the opportunity to collaborate with other amazing artists?

I’m more interested in being friends with people.  I make my best music when I’m alone or when I have a connection with someone.  Hell ya there’s dope artists out there but not everyone bonds the same way and that’s okay! I’m excited to meet everyone though!

You’ve got a track dedicated to your mum on your newly released album ‘TV’, how has her influence guided you?

My mom was the one that told me since the beginning that my voice matters.  All my feelings matter. The good ones and the bad ones.  I’m only cool because she’s way cooler than me.

Again, your life has changed drastically as of late as you say. What do you think is coming next?

The only thing coming up next is more motherf*cking music.  I’m gonna keep putting stuff out till I can’t even hear sound waves coming out a damn speaker.
