THE DROP: HUTCH - COASTING
The Drop: Hutch
“Coasting”
On his latest single “Coasting”, Hutch opens up about the patterns we swear we’ve outgrown and the moments that pull us back in.
Speaking on the release, Hutch shares:
“Coasting is about being in denial when I was younger. I knew I needed to change but struggled to break away from toxic patterns. This song acknowledges that I had my fun, but it was becoming more dangerous than a good time. Multiple times where I felt I had got myself together, ready for rebirth with big plans and bright ideas, I was then straight back into old habits because of an old friend or one glisten from a persuasive eye.”
Accompanied by a visual directed by Edem Wornoo, the release explores a raw and gruelling fight for sobriety, offering a candid look at the inner turmoil that can often go unseen. Rather than presenting a clean redemption arc, Hutch leans into the ongoing process of growth, beginning the year with his heart on his sleeve and baring his vulnerability in the process.
Named as one of BBC Introducing’s Ones To Watch 2026, “Coasting” marks an endearing next chapter for an artist ready to share his truth.
