THE DROP: MAVERICK SABRE – “8 STAGES”

Today (13 March), Maverick Sabre returns with his first release of 2026, the reflective new single 8 Stages, co produced with Ben McKone and released via FAMM.

Opening with a spoken sequence of thoughts from Mav, the track immediately sets a contemplative tone. Over a delicate guitar lead, he reflects on fading memories of people who were once close, revisiting brighter days while quietly acknowledging the distance that time can bring. “8 Stages” captures the feeling of drifting away from people we never quite made amends with, carrying a message that tomorrow is never guaranteed and that the present moment matters more than we realise.

Throughout his career, Maverick Sabre has never shied away from speaking openly about the world around him. His music often balances personal reflection with wider social awareness, and “8 Stages” continues that tradition. Honest, thoughtful and grounded in emotion, the track feels like a moment of pause in an increasingly chaotic world.

Born in Stoke Newington, Sabre moved to County Wexford at the age of four before returning to London in his late teens. Raised on Blues, Folk and Country through his father’s record collection, his musical world later expanded into hip hop production and songwriting during his teenage years in Ireland. Those influences have shaped a sound that comfortably blends soulful vocals with elements of rap, folk and classic songwriting.

Over the past decade, Sabre has built one of the most respected catalogues in contemporary UK and Irish music. Across four albums he has collaborated with artists including George The Poet, Olivia Dean, Nia Archives, Joey Bada$$, Chronixx and Jorja Smith.

His most recent album Burn The Right Things Down saw him explore new sonic territory and arrive alongside a sold out tour. Tracks from the project, including “Roses Ether” and “Weak”, even found their way onto the EA Sports FC 25 soundtrack, expanding the reach of the record to new audiences.

Now in Australia supporting Hilltop Hoods on their sold out six week stadium tour while also performing his own headline shows, Maverick Sabre continues to prove why his voice remains such an important presence in modern music.

With “8 Stages”, he returns to the centre of the conversation once again. Quietly powerful, reflective and emotionally grounded, the single reminds listeners that some of the most impactful music often arrives in moments of stillness.
