JULS UNVEILS 'TRAVELLING MAN: COM AMOR BRAZIL' A FIVE-DAY IMMERSIVE EXHIBITION IN BRIXTON
British-Ghanaian producer and DJ Juls, a pivotal figure in the Afrobeats movement, is set to debut his first documentary film, Travelling Man: Com Amor Brazil, through an immersive exhibition at The Department Store in Brixton from June 8 to 12, 2025. This event offers attendees a unique opportunity to explore the deep-rooted connections between African and Brazilian cultures.
The 20-minute documentary, created in collaboration with filmmaker Oluwatomisin Okeowo, delves into the historical, spiritual, and musical ties linking Bahia, Brazil, and Jamestown, Ghana. It sheds light on the Tabom community, descendants of Afro-Brazilian returnees who settled in Ghana in the 1800s—highlighting their enduring cultural impact.
Complementing the film is an original EP by Juls, set to release on June 20, 2025. The EP sonically bridges the rhythms of Brazil and Africa, encapsulating the diaspora's shared heritage and musical evolution.
